Where can we better support effort?
Patterns in school can become invisible, and this can lead to organizations moving forward via inertia, momentum, and tradition. Growth mindset is essential for organizational transformation, but most schools have a number of historic places where that they value achievement as opposed to effort. Grades, honor roll, and athletic achievement all celebrate achievement, and leave hard work, determination, and persistence as traits holding less value. If organizations can look to better balance their language around some of these types of areas, they can grow into healthy organizations that are intentional with their words by design. It is essential that all feel as though the learning process matters and that hard work in this process can make a difference in transformation.
